The gospel

The good news about who Jesus is and what He has done for sinners

I. The Character of god

There is one true and living God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God is the just and gracious Creator of all things. He is all knowing, all powerful, and completley holy. To Him we owe the highest love, reverence, and obedience.

II. the sinfulness of man

We are each created by God, but we are all corrupted by sin. The Bible says that sin is rebellion against God. We are all guilty of disobeying God's commands. Sin causes the brokenness in our world, in our lives, and in our relationship with God. The punishment of our sin is eternal separation from God.

III. the sufficiency of christ

Jesus is fully God and fully man. He came to earth to rescue sinners and lived a perfectly sinless life. His death on the cross satisfied the wrath of God for our sins once and for all. Jesus is the only one who is able to remove our sin and reconcile us to God through His death and resurrection.

Romans 3:21-26, 4:25, 5:6-10, 5:18, 8:1-4

IV. the necessity of faith

The Bible calls us to repent of our sin and trust in Jesus. We cannot save ourselves through good works, but only by receiving God's grace through faith. True saving faith will result in a lifelong commitment to following Jesus.

Romans 1:17, 3:20-31, 4:22-25, 6:11-14, 8:10-11, 10:9-13

V. the urgency of eternity

Our eternal destiny is dependent on our response to Jesus. Once we place our faith in Jesus we must share this share this gospel so people from every nation, tribe, and tongue have a chance to respond to the good news of Jesus.

John 3:14-16, 36, John 10:27-30, 17:3, 1 Timothy 1:16-17, Hebrews 9:12, 1 John 5:11-13
